Announcing Our Newest Board Member Alison Pincus
Enterprise For Youth is delighted to welcome Alison Gelb Pincus to our Board of Directors!
Alison is a San Francisco-based entrepreneur who is motivated by disruption in the profit and not-for-profit/civic arenas. In 2008, Alison co-founded One Kings Lane as an innovative, e-commerce solution for how home décor, furniture and accessories are aggregated, marketed and merchandised. Within a short period of time, the company became an industry leader, had sold goods to more than 1M shoppers in the U.S., and carried product from thousands of trusted brands and manufacturers. Venture backed One Kings Lane was sold to Bed Bath & Beyond Inc (NASDAQ: BBBY) in the Spring of 2016.
Alison is passionate about supporting, empowering and helping entrepreneurs. Alison and a collective of five San Francisco-based, female seed investors have come together to make investments in consumer-oriented projects in the United States. They are working with entrepreneurs across various company lifecycles and stages.
Alison is committed to her cultural identity, and the Jewish community domestically. In 2016, the non-profit Hello Mazel was launched, and Alison was one of its Co-Creators. As one of the highest funded “Jew-ish” project on Kickstarter, the small group initially raised over $150,000 and created a subscription service around spirituality and Jew-ish goods. Large grant-making organizations have since funded Hello Mazel because of its uniqueness in the cultural/spirituality category.
In addition to joining the board of Enterprise for Youth, Alison sits on the board of IfOnly, as well as a leadership advisory committee for the Center for Youth Wellness. As a member of YGL (Young Global Leaders), Alison looks forward to working on more initiatives with female entrepreneurs from around the world. Alison received her BS from UC Berkeley, and her MBA from The Anderson School at UCLA. As the mother to three young children, Alison is knee-deep in learning about how education and special-needs education can shape tomorrow’s leaders.
Alison has shown the success of her entrepreneurial and marketing skills in both in the public and non-profit sectors. She continues to collaborate on initiatives with female entrepreneurs around the world. We are proud to call Alison part of our family and we can’t wait to work with her!
