Salesforce Executives Share Career Advice to Enterprise Youth

Enterprise’s Youth Council hosts Salesforce Executives at a virtual retreat.

“Don’t do things just for the money—it could lead you away from what you actually want to do in the future.”—Skye, 16, Youth Council

On April 23rd, Enterprise for Youth hosted Board Member Brent Hyder, President, Chief People Officer at Salesforce, and his HR executives during a virtual retreat for our youth. Brent has consistently championed Enterprise for Youth’s work over the past five years through his professional career and his presence on the Enterprise for Youth board.

We’re proud of Youth Council’s Skye and Elizabeth for stepping up to work directly with our Chief Executive Officer Ninive Calegari to help plan the event. The youth and executives opened up about their professional dreams, with youth gaining valuable insight from successful professionals. Salesforce executives spoke to the many lessons of their life experiences. One spoke to how their first job, cleaning Oldsmobiles, had instilled the value of hard work in them. Another shared how a difficult job taught him the value of doing purposeful work.

Here are a few of the insights the youth learned from the event:

“Be open to more opportunities; don’t just look at one career.” —Jasmine, Youth Council

“Do what you think is right—follow your ethical compass.”—Emanuel, Youth Council

This type of professional mentoring is one of the ways Enterprise for Youth executes its mission to empower under-resourced youth to reach their full potential. We look forward to creating more exciting opportunities for our students.

Thank you, Salesforce, for your partnership which allows us to continue our vital work with youth and for your generous donation to Enterprise for Youth as part of Salesforce’s Future Ready COVID-19 Rapid Response Fund.
