A note from Carlo Solis about his vision for Enterprise for Youth

 

Dear Supporters and Friends of Enterprise for Youth,

I am thrilled to share with you the exciting news that on January 1st, 2024 I became the CEO at Enterprise for Youth. As a San Francisco native, it is both an honor and a privilege to lead an organization that has been a beacon of opportunity and support for countless young individuals in our city for over five decades.

Throughout my journey, which spans two decades in community organizations in San Francisco, I have witnessed the transformative impact of paid internships and career readiness support on the lives of young people. Enterprise for Youth has been a vital connector, ensuring that every young person, regardless of their neighborhood, has access to opportunities for success and personal growth.

My commitment is to continue and enhance the legacy of Enterprise for Youth over the next 55 years. Drawing from my experiences as a Community School Coordinator with SFUSD, a Director at Bay Area Community Resources, and Senior Partnership Manager at MyPath, I understand the importance of collaborating with community networks and agencies to uplift our youth and fulfill our mission.

I envision Enterprise for Youth playing an increasingly pivotal role in shaping the trajectories of young lives. This involves a heightened commitment to post-secondary education, personalized college counseling, active pursuit of competitive statewide and national internships, and expanding our Climate Career Corps. We are committed to supporting and facilitating active participation in the abundant trade and apprenticeship opportunities offered by city agencies and community colleges. Moreover, I am deeply committed to establishing a permanent space for our participants—a sanctuary providing support, a venue to complete homework, explore career opportunities, and foster an environment of safety and encouragement. Such comprehensive efforts ensure that the youth we engage with emerge as leading candidates in any endeavor they pursue.

Working alongside Nínive Calegari over the past four and a half years has been a profound experience in organizational leadership and fundraising. Together, we have doubled the number of youth served, a testament to our shared dedication to the mission of Enterprise for Youth.

I am immensely proud of the incredible team we have built, and as we continue to grow, I am excited about the journey ahead. The effectiveness of my role will be best gauged by the achievements of the youth, both within and beyond the duration of our program.
