ENTERPRISE FOR YOUTH

Founded in 1969, Enterprise for Youth has served over 25,000 young people to date. Each year, 500 youth attend workshops that cover topics including interviewing skills, resume and cover letter preparation, money management training, and conflict resolution. We place youth in internships that give them the opportunity to dig deeper into career fields they’re interested in pursuing. Participants who complete our program apply and enroll at higher rates to post-secondary education. Enterprise for Youth sets young people on the right path to achieve career success.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

The Development Manager is responsible for building, managing, and actively cultivating and soliciting a diversified development portfolio of corporate and individuals donors.

Reports To: Chief Development Officer

Location: San Francisco, CA

FLSA Status: Full-Time, Exempt

Position Overview:

The Development Manager is a key member of the Development team, responsible for building and maintaining relationships with individual and corporate donors. This role will focus on identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a portfolio of donors to meet the organization’s fundraising goals. The Development Manager will work closely with the Chief Development Officer and other team members to implement strategies that enhance donor engagement and retention, ensuring the financial sustainability of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Donor Management:

  • Develop and manage a portfolio of individual and corporate donors, with a focus on mid-level and major gifts.
  • Identify and research potential new donors, and develop strategies for outreach and cultivation.
  • Maintain regular communication with donors through personalized outreach, meetings, and events.

2. Fundraising Strategy:

  • Collaborate with the Chief Development Officer to create and implement annual fundraising plans and strategies.
  • Develop and execute campaigns to increase individual and corporate giving, including major gifts, planned giving, and corporate sponsorships.
  • Analyze donor data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for growth.

3. Corporate Partnerships:

  • Build and maintain relationships with corporate partners, securing sponsorships, in-kind donations, and volunteer employee engagement opportunities.
  • Develop and manage corporate giving programs, including matching gifts, workplace giving, and corporate volunteerism.
  • Create compelling proposals and reports for corporate donors, highlighting the impact of their contributions.

4. Stewardship and Recognition:

  • Ensure timely and personalized acknowledgment of all gifts, maintaining a high level of donor satisfaction and engagement.
  • Plan and execute donor recognition events and activities to express appreciation and showcase the impact of donor contributions.
  • Implement a stewardship program that includes regular updates, impact reports, and engagement opportunities.

5. Collaboration and Teamwork:

  • Work closely with the Communications team to develop materials that support fundraising efforts, including newsletters, social media content, and donor appeals.
  • Collaborate with program staff to gather stories, data, and other information that demonstrates the impact of donor support.
  • Participate in Development team meetings, planning sessions, and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Business, Communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fundraising, with a focus on individual and corporate donors.
  • Proven track record of securing mid-level and major gifts from individual and corporate donors.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience with donor management systems (e.g., Salesforce) and proficiency in Google suite.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for the mission of Enterprise for Youth and a commitment to advancing its goals.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in event planning and execution.
  • Knowledge of fundraising regulations and best practices.
  • CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive) certification or equivalent.
